Wellbeing in the Workplace

By Alan Gittins

A Special event at Diss RFC - Wed 15th May

This special event focuses on how businesses in the local area can improve the health and happiness of their teams through physical activity, in particular table tennis.

Upon arrival guests will enjoy networking over a nutritious breakfast provided by Tracy from The Park Hotel. As last year’s Wellbeing event it will feature a wonderful array of food and juices to help nourish the mind, body and soul and not a trace of caffeine in sight!

Laura Woolacott from South Norfolk Council will talk about the Loop at Work table tennis initiative which helps businesses create a place people love to work.

We all know we should eat healthily, get active and take time to relax, but with the ever-growing pressures of a busy life, and with every minute of our day accounted for; it can seem impossible to fit in any ‘down-time’. There is, however, a movement of forward thinking employers that recognise the benefits of having a healthy, happy work force and are finding ways to help their staff; whether it’s providing a free fruit bowl, a bean bag filled chill out area and the one we naturally love, a table tennis table in the office!

Laura will be bringing a full size table tennis table to the event so there will be an opportunity for everyone to have a go at the end of her presentation and find out how the initiative can help businesses purchase tables for a special discounted rate.

Rosie Urry from Thriving Workplaces, the Norfolk County Council commissioned workplace health service, will talk about the support they can offer. They work with organisations at a strategic level to improve the health and wellbeing of their staff which can in turn help with recruitment and retention, as well as productivity. The sorts of support they can offer are access to their staff survey to determine focus areas, access to their workplace cultural analysis tool and support to make improvements against the Workplace Wellbeing Charter.

They can also help put together an action plan with you consisting of support such as Mental Health First Aid training, Health Champion training, invitations to attend their quarterly networking events to share ideas, support with policy development and access to the members only area of our website.
