Sunday 2nd October. Diss U16 v Bury

Diss played host to Bury St Edmunds U16s. What a great game of rugby. Diss with only fourteen players available and one carrying an injury, Bury with players to spare loaned players as needed. This was a game we thought that Diss to be well beaten from the start. We were proved wrong! A depleteted squad again this season, the team are determined not to be a pushover. They use what assets they have, a lively set of boys not afraid to run at the opposition, definitely not afraid to tackle or get involved, no matter of the size of boys their up agains. From great hands, speed, rucking, of teamwork and spirit, the boys are a challenge to any team their up against.
Bury Kicked off and put Diss under pressure early, they fought hard to win every ball. They settled down and put Bury under pressure. A clearance kick from Bury into the hands of Nat who using his speed to run the left wing avoiding tackles to take the first try from Diss. A long conversion from Kyle a little short of the touch line with the wind behing, drove the ball over the bar. Shortly after Bury came back to claim a try, not converted. James with his usual runs, attacked Bury again down the wing for a try. Kyle unable to convert. Diss with their relentless work were suffering knocks, a couple of replacements by half time. Lots of midfield play in the second half. A kicked fwd ball from Bury brought them an easy try under the posts, then a conversion. 12 - 12
We watched as some of Diss boys started to fade until Bury forced Diss back over the line to take the final try, again unconverted.
