Sunday 8th January 2017 Southwold U16s v Diss U16s

Diss traveled to Southwold with only 13 players, losing players to Eastern counties selection. Difficult times as players out of position to fill the gaps. Southwold kindly loaned players to make up a team. Southwold were easily beaten on their previous meeting at Diss earlier the season.
Diss set about the task with their normal venom and were quickly awarded with a try from Ben Brown standing in as fly half. Southwold came back quickly, driving forward to gain a converted try. 7 - 5. Ben being alert, intercepted a pass then running most of the pitch to score under the posts, making it easy for Kyle Harwood-Lefevre to convert. But then Southwold came back again with an unconverted try to even the scores. 12 - 12. Ben unfortunately, who was intent to claim a hat trick suffered a kneck injury, had to leave the field to be replaced by a further loan player. Driving forward again, Southwold took the lead from another unconverted try. Then Diss retaliated as Sam Fawcett scored his first try for the team with Kyle again converting to just nudge ahead 17 - 19. As half time approached, Southwold scored their next converted try with a score line of 24 - 19.
Southwold took the next try 31 - 19. But Diss weren't beat, Nat Strange ran in two tries for Diss, one converted by Kyle. This equalling the scores at 31 - 31. Diss suffered another injury leaving Diss playing a man down for the remaining minutes being beat by two late tries for a score line of 43 - 31 to Southwold.
Not taking anything from Southwold, a much improved team. Diss certainly suffering with missing some strong players but they definitely put on a good performance.
