Diss entertain Chiswick RFC in the London 2 North Play-off final this Saturday at Mackenders . Following relegation last season from London One, Diss are hoping for an immediate return to a level far more appropriate to a Club with the playing abilities, facilities and management structures as displayed by the Norfolk Club. Coaches, Roger Coombs and David Smith are able to select a full strength side, although the final starting line- up will not be confirmed until later in the week when fitness reports will be assessed on Joshua Ludkin and the Old warrior Tim Groom. Groom’s experience has been an invaluable asset throughout the season, combined with the outstanding Leadership of Captain, Fraser Hall and a core group of well-established players who have not only enjoyed their rugby more this year but also played with a vigour and vitality that has entertained the large home support on many occasions throughout the campaign.

Coombs selects a three -Quarter line brimming with experience from the half back pairing of Burroughs and Peacock to the centre combination of Warren Wilby and Josh Ludkin, who have between them created numerous opportunities for both themselves and the prolific try scoring wingers Tom Holt and Giles West. In the Forwards continuity and dominance have been the two key words this season. Chris Craven has returned in fine form to the front row recently and finds himself supported by three outstanding prop forwards in Tim Groom, former Captain Matt Richards and the dynamic Peter Bray. Another Old War Horse, Paul Cayley, has striven manfully all season and combined with the most improved player of the season John Bergin forms a powerful boiler room. The back row of Captain, Fraser Hall, Michael Fuller and the inspiring John Laurie will pose a real threat both defensively and on the front foot all afternoon. Diss find themselves at the defining moment of the season in a confident and determined but realistic frame of mind. The large local support expected to attend will be in for a real treat.
