Diss completed their Pre-Season series of matches with a hard fought and very competitive fixture with Bury St Edmunds, Wolfhounds. Having easily defeated West Norfolk and losing disappointingly to Southwold, Diss now showed a more cohesive approach this week. Early exchanges were in the main evenly contested, although Bury certainly showed an initial willingness to attack through their three quarters and dominated territory for the first quarter of the half. Bury pressure eventually told with a well worked converted try executed through their centres. Diss rallied, and now enjoyed a period of attacking play themselves with John Laurie, Kimi Latu, Philip LeLievre and Sean McClure all showing signs of a developing attacking game plan. With half time approaching, Philip LeLievre found himself in space wide on the right. Clever and decisive foot work allowed LeLievre to sneak over in the corner to reduce the score to 5-7. Bury responded immediately with a beautifully crafted try from a cross kick, fielded by Chris Snelling.

The second half immediately saw Bury attacking again with a more organised and determined approach. Following a series of attacking rucks in the Diss red zone, Bury score a third try stretching their lead to 21 -5. The game was now poised at a crucial stage for the Mackenders outfit. Pleasingly, Diss responded in a most positive fashion. Tries were scored by John Laurie and Sean McClure to reduce the deficit to 19 points to 24. An entertaining and thoroughly worthwhile encounter was concluded with Bury deserving their hard earned victory.
