Diss still smarting from their narrow defeat the previous week took control from the start spending the first ten minutes in their visitors half, however they were unable to turn their territorial advantage into points. A break out by Walden saw them take advantage of a brief visit to the Diss 25 to take the lead with well struck penalty.

A lesson not quickly learned by Diss was not to concede penalties in their own territory as Tom Price proved capable of slotting them with consummate ease from all angles. Diss intact concede 7 kickable penalties which were all gratefully accepted by their visitors. The diss pack gave a very good demonstration of their capability by taking four scrums on the trot against the head.

Diss took the lead when Tom Holt rounded off a good passing movement to score in the corner. The diss defence was excellent and the fact that their kept their line intact for the whole match was a direct result of excellent tackling by the threes and the back row trio.

The diss lead was not long lived as Saffron scored another two penalties to make it 9-5 to the visitors. Jack Peacock was having an excellent game at Fly Half and his good work put Diss in an attacking position from where they scored a push over try the whole pack taking the credit to give the home side a 10-9 lead. This was not long lived as the visitors scored two more penalties to take a 5 point lead.

The home side moved up a couple of gears as the second half progressed, a superb break by Warren Wilby was finished off by Fraser hall to level the score at 15 a piece. Saffron Walden scored yet another two penalties to go ahead by 6 points with 1 /4 of the game to go. Diss got better and better a try by Jack Peacock and a penalty from the same player giving Diss the lead which they were not to relinquish, two more tries came from team efforts and the Home side ended on a high with outstanding performances from the entire team.

The ageless Paul Cayley and John Bergin in the engine room leading by example and with newcomer Olly Vincent in the back row tackling well above his weight throughout the entire match.
