A return to league action following last weekend’s entertaining Harrison Cup victory against Holt sees the Norfolk Club entertaining Essex based Basildon for the final League game of the season.
Diss are already assured of a Play-off place but will be seeking a convincing victory in order to maintain momentum and also to secure a home draw in the play –off final. Rather ironically Diss played their first game of the season at Basildon, losing narrowly in a game that highlighted the lack of an appropriate Pre-season. Roger Coombs and David Smith are able to select a strong squad that should really stretch Basildon to the extreme. Captain Fraser Hall is unavailable but John Laurie now returns to the back row after injury and Ryan Carter has recovered from a shoulder injury to also add pace and dynamism to a pack that has for most of the season been very much on the front foot.
The half back pairing of Burroughs and Peacock return to action with Jack Keppel moving from his fly half berth of last week to partner Warren Wilby in the centre due to the fact that Josh Ludkin has still not fully recovered from an arm injury. Matt Trede returns to full back with Will Scott, Charlie Crotty and Matt Cullum forming a more than useful bench that will certainly have an impact as the game develops.
Prior to the game starting the Diss Under 11 squad will be playing an exhibition game on the first team pitch. ( Start 2.15) The boys will then form a guard of honour for the players as they run out prior to the kick off. Diss Under 11’s have just returned from a very successful Easter tour of Yorkshire and Derbyshire.
