With conditions wet and windy and the pitches beginning to take a set of studs, Diss 3rds travelled to the popular UEA venue looking to avenge last season’s thumping at the hands of the students. The team selected with a missing captain Benny Goodman, who was on international duty at Twickenham and a rested Jack Owen, duly obliged with a powerful forward influenced game. The game which at half time looked even at 5-3, courtesy of a Pete Bray try after a barrelling run, turned on its head in the second half when after a spate on injuries to the students the forwards of Diss got on top. John Alexander made two storming runs during the half resulting in tries and he added a further push over try to make it a second half hat trick. In between this was a try for Will Hudson who broke through a brace of tackles to score a try for himself after recently returning from injury. With extra changes made Diss managed to score two more ties by the Passmore brothers Ed and Henry who capped a complete day. The only fault of the day was the conversion rate of the tries which prevented the score reaching fifty as the Diss kicker missed a few straightforward kicks. The win keeps Diss up amongst the top of the league with the pace setters now having played all the top sides once and looking for more victories in the coming weeks starting with Watton away next weekend.
