Over a month after it should have been played Diss finally get a chance to shine.

On a slightly breezy (Some might say normal for West Norfolk!) Diss turned up to play this long delayed by bad weather Semi Final. The pitch looked in fine order and with the large West side already out training it was game on.
Diss kicked off to West who soon set out their stall for the game by using their large forwards to bludgeon their way up the pitch. Diss's defence was good and turned the ball over a couple times only to drop the ball or knock on in their eagerness to get the pass away. West continued battering away but could not make it past the Diss 22M line and it was nearly ten minutes into the half before Diss were awarded their first put in at the scrum. The ball was spun wide quickly through the backs to the wing who was tackled just short off scoring but good support saw the try scored by the Diss centre picking and driving over the line.
The second Diss try was scored immediately from the restart with the winger catching the ball from the kick off, running through West's pack untouched and sprinting the length of the field, West's full back got near enough to tap tackle the Diss player who showed great skill to forward roll back onto his feet and score.
At this point a rout may have been on the cards but some audible stern words from with in the West team meant this was not to be the case. West managed to turn over the ball from the restart and mount their own attack into the Diss half. During one of these forays the West No 10 noticed a momently gap in the Diss defensive line and used a very clever grubber kick to get the ball behind Diss, the bounce was kind and he managed to gather his own ball to sprint in under the posts unopposed.
With the score now 7-12 West knew they had to score next to take control of the game. They threw everything at Diss but Diss held them out time and time again and eventually gained the ball and mounted there own attack finishing with a line out five yards out. A long throw was somehow gathered by the Diss flanker who astounded all by riding two tackles and sprinting in under the post's. This score did seem to take the sting out of West and Diss ran in a two more tries before the half time whistle.
The second half followed a similar vain with West mounting numerous attacks but finding it very hard to score although there forwards did finally breach the Diss line to score West's second try. Diss on the other hand took advantage of any territory they gained to score a further three tries before full time.
This has set us up a for a home final on the 16/03. Well done.
A big thank you to all players who travelled to West today especially the subs. A special thank you to all parents who stayed at Diss to fulfil our kitchen duties.

Cheers Sooty.
