First Game in the New Strip

The result for the lads today in terms of the score line was not what they wanted but the result from hard training, commitment and shear tenacity certainly was. For the first time this season we managed to field a full fifteen players which is fantastic for the lads and just as rewarding for the Manager, Coaches and Parents alike and fifteen players turned up that’s for sure.

Cambridge were always going to be a very tough side, arguably the toughest side Diss will face this season but did they blitz our guys off the pitch? They certainly didn’t, Diss were so close to hitting that real form that will bring big wins before the season is finished. Diss just lacked that match sharpness that meant they were slightly slow in support to some great driving play which was all Cambridge needed to spoil Diss’s attacks on many occasions and also stopped a few certain Tries for Diss had the initial drive been supported by the strength and momentum of more Team members but this will come with more match time.

From a Coach’s perspective there is still much to work on, at the end of the day the lads are a developing side but it’s great that they know now that the guys are getting it and certainly have the capability to do it, with a bit more concentration, a bit more sleep the night before and that realisation of what a difference that extra awareness can make then there are great wins ahead.

Really well done guys, let’s take that belief, take that effort, lift it another notch and we can beat Lowestoft and Yarmouth at home on Sunday. This will take us that next step closer to being on top form for the first game in the Norfolk cup on the 11th January!
