They thought they had it in the bag.

Once again Diss were tight with numbers, able to field a team of fifteen only. This time they visited Norwich who narrowly beat them last time they met.
A steady start as both teams probing to find the weak spots. Diss found the first score from Miles Smith picking up the ball and run in for a try. Diss then lost their prop with a leg injury and had to borrow one of Norwich spare players. Diss heads lifted and took the game to Norwich, winning territory and pushing forward. Norwich with a knock on as the ball fell to the feet of Tom Jacka, alert enough to play advantage and kick the ball forward pick the up then a good offload to Fred Sargent running in and taking the ball through for a try. Half time score Norwich 0 Diss 10.
The second half Norwich came back strong with an early run in try, then converted. Diss were then caught out with a line out taken short to run in for their second try, 12 - 10. Diss injured player returned to the game after resting his injury. An attack from Diss took James Webster through for a try. Diss with an offload to Ben Brown ran through the middle through good dummy pass leaving an opening under the posts to score his try and for George Jones to convert 12 - 22 to Diss. Diss moving the ball around well, good passing between players with the finishing with James Webster running his second try into the corner for a 12 - 27 lead. Norwich came back again with another converted try. Diss with fatigue or complacency let Norwich past to score again, bringing the score 24 - 27 to Diss. The ref called one minute of play. Diss with a long kick off hoping to win the ball back but the ball went to Norwich, a strong player bundled his way out from the back to run the wing being chased down but couldn't be caught. Norwich with a final unconverted try to win by two points. A great game all round, enjoyed by players, coaches and spectators. A good game again from Diss boys showing their teamwork and spiritedness to win the ball against all opposition. Well done. The awards for men of the match for Diss were given to Dan Blackburn playing in the front row and to little Tom jacka for his efforts out on the wing.
