Diss U15s v Norwich U15s Sunday 20th March

Diss traveled to Norwich for another local challenge. Diss arrived with only fourteen players, Norwich with a few spares were able to loan one to make a game of it. Diss kicked off then set about Norwich. They drove forward and that's where they stayed all the first half. They couldn't score a try whatever they did. Each effort was forced back, forced out or fumbled. But Diss were sharp off the blocks didn't allow Norwich to play at make any progress at al. In fact they couldn't venture into Diss half for any of the first half.no score in the the first half.
The second half was different. Norwich didn't allow Diss to do so much camping. Both pressed forward, but Norwich were held off from scoring. A strong but fair game was played. Diss took some hard hits, the ref allowed recovery any play resumed.
Diss driving forward. Some pick and go, the ball then passed along the line until Broke through as Robert Duffield playing second row, received the ball, arm stretched to touch the ball down for a try. Unconverted. A similar try again from Robert Duffield to put Diss two tries ahead. Diss took further knocks. Diss full back, Nat Strange, a bit off a sprinter took a flier on the right wing, thought he was through, but was hit with a massive flier of a tackle. He was down to recover for a couple of minutes then finally got up to play on.from there two minutes later took a flier down the left wing. This time beating all defences, then to score a try under the posts. An easy conversion for George Jones to kick. Game over. Diss won. Back at the clubhouse after the game. Robert Duffield and Tom Elkins who both shared a birthday on the day. Both were singled out and congratulations for their special efforts on the field. Robert felt that it was his new birthday boots that done it.
