An impressive first win of the season

Diss U15’s arrived at Norwich with 23 players eager to demonstrate that all the summer fitness and pre-season training had been effective.
Within 2 minutes of the kick off the pack had secured the ball at a breakdown and Isaac Powell set off on a long run handing off the opposition before passing to the supporting Kenny Sayers 0-7
3 minutes later the handling skills were on show as Drew Harris popped the ball to Freddie Potter at a sprint was unstoppable by the Norwich defence. 0-14
The next score saw Freddie returning the favour with a beautifully timed pass into the hands of Drew on the wing who crossed the try line under the posts. 0-21
Isaac and Freddie were ruling the line out and with the ball securely placed in Isaac’s hands he drove for the line and crashed over to score. 0-26
Norwich kicked off and the ball was caught by Ben Faulkner who made a fantastic break through the defence before a superb pass out of the back of his hand into the grasp of Drew Harris to score his second. 0-31
It is always a pleasure to see coached moves work well and having set a maul from a line out the pack drove forward before Josh Hayhoe left the back of the maul and ran 15 metres to score. 0-36
A satisfying first half completed Diss brought on a replacement front row and had made other changes as the game progressed.
There was a short period of even play then Archie Ryder broke free from a breakdown on the Norwich 10 meter and ran until about 1 meter from the try line before being tackled. His momentum was sufficient for Archie to score under the posts 0-43
Two minutes later Diss were awarded a 5 metre scrum and Kenny Sayers set off from number 8 towards the try line. Kenny was tackled just short of the line but Isaac had supported on his shoulder and took the pass to score his second. 0-48
The handling and support play throughout the team had been very good. Stanley Spurdens took the ball on from a backs move before passing out wide for Drew Harris to dive over and score his hattrick.0-53
With 15 minutes still to play Diss passed the ball quickly away from a line out and Finlay Martin came up into the attack from full back to complete a tremendous run and score 0-60
The Diss backs were in full command, passing at will and with ball won at the scrum passed quickly to Stanley Spurdens, he scored under the posts.0-65
Time was almost up but there was just enough for the backs to put on another fine display of fluent passing and support with gave Joe Jermy the chance to score in the corner. 0-70

Norwich never gave up and they have grown their numbers recently, so we look forward to seeing them again later in the season.
