West Norfolk U15's 29 V 38 Diss U15's

After a convincing Diss win in a friendly against the same opposition just two weeks ago the Diss players were warned not to take the game lightly. West kicked off and the ball was caught by Tom Parks-lewis who sprinted from his own half and scored under the posts. This was converted by Ben Waters 0-7. West have a very impressive set of forwards and it wasn't long before they had bulldozed their way to score twice and converting one. 12-7
Diss realising they needed to play the ball wide got down into the West 22 and from a ruck the ball went to Ben Waters on a crash ball to score and convert 12-14. West had the last word in the first half scoring an unconverted try to lead 17-14 at half time.
The Diss coaches briefed the team for a huge defensive effort in the 2nd half to keep the West Norfolk forwards out and play our attacks through the backs. It was West who scored and converted first to extend their lead to 24-14. Shortly afterwards Diss went for a repeat of an earlier move which gave the ball to the backs and Joe Jermy the chance to force his way through and score. This was unconverted 24-19. Realising this was the route to success Diss repeated the set up again by the very hard working forwards and passed out to the backs for Ben Waters to wrestle his way for the line and score. All square 24-24
West kicked off and Tom Parks-Lewis caught the ball again and ran through the West players to score a converted try 24-31. West fought back with another try 29-31. The Diss defence was quite awesome repelling wave after wave of West attacks from their forwards and when winning the ball feeding the backs. This gave Ben Waters the chance for his hat trick try and conversion 29-38. The Diss forwards had put on the defensive display of the season against a very good West Norfolk pack. It was a tremendous effort by all the players - well done
