Diss U15's 24 V 26 Colchester B
By Andy Jermy
Fantastic game ends with the closest of scores
Colchester U15's have a squad of 57 players to choose from and the B side has some high quality players as a result. Diss were looking to build on recent successes and started the game in a determined fashion. An early line out gave the forwards the opportunity to drive forward and release good ball to the backs. As the ball went through the hands Tom Parks-Lewis came into the line from fullback and crossed for the first try. Ben Waters stepped up to convert for an early 7-0 lead.
All the go forward was with Diss who hassled Colchester in to some handling mistakes. With the ball back in Diss hands Joe Jermy set off on a tremendous run and when it looked like he would be stopped he kicked through and the supporting Ben Faulkner managed to get downward pressure ahead of the Colcheter defence. Ben Waters converted again 14-0
Diss put on a brilliant defensive display but with 1/2 time nearing Colchester finally broke through and scored a converted try 14-7
Drew Harris has had another great season and early into the second half we witnessed another brilliant display of his pace and guile to see him score in the corner 19-7.
Colchester started to build more structure to their attack in an attempt to beat the Diss defence and this resulted in another score for them 19-12.
Lucas Dade-Ricketts has been working hard in training on straightening up his attack run and this came to fruition when given the opportunity close up to the touchline. He powered his way through to the line and scored a well deserved try to make the score 24-12.
Praise must go to Colchester at this point as they finished out the game with two well executed tries to give them the victory by 2 points 24-26.
This was another excellent game by Diss , against tough opposition. Every player deserves praise for the effort they put in.
