Great start to the cup campaign.

Mackenders was bathed in sunshine and the playing conditions were near perfect for the first game of our Norfolk Cup campaign. Diss were determined to make a good start and with only 3 minutes on the watch the ball went out to Dylan Smith on the wing who when tackled popped the ball up to the supporting Finlay Martin to score 5-0
Immediately from the re-start Joe Jermy set off on long run through the Holt defence and passed to Ben Faulkner to score 10-0
On 15 minutes the backs looked to go wide again and Dylan Smith took the ball on the wing and scored. 15-0
The pattern was repeated two minutes later with the backs taking the ball up field supported by the back row forwards and it was Ben Faulkner who finished off the move for his second 20-0
There followed a period of contested play before Diss were awarded a penalty 5m out from the try line and captain Freddie Potter drove at the line and scored. Ben Waters got the convertion to make it 32 -0 at 1/2 time.
A more determined Holt started the second half by scoring after a series of pick and drive moves 32-5
8 minutes and Finlay Martin caught a high ball in the Diss half and ran the remainder of the field unchallenged to score. 39-5
The next to score was Ben Waters who jinked his way through to score a wonderful individual try 46-5
Ben Waters could have scored again but he unselfishly passed the ball to supporting Adam Balding to let Adam score his first ever try.53-5
Ben Faulkner had been impressive throughout the game and supported every run . He richly deserved his hat-trick try 60-5
At this point the referee called the coaches and asked if the game should be stopped due to the 50 point differential. Holt decided that they wanted to carry on .
Holt kicked off deep into the Diss half, Finlay Martin caught the ball and headed off on a strong run, passing to Drew Harris on the wing to score 67-5
With time running out it was great to see Finlay Martin at full pace scoring under the posts for the second hat trick of the day. Bryce Cochrane converted and made the final score 74-5
