Diss returned to winning ways in a feisty and totally committed encounter against local rivals Crusaders. Having conceded an early Crusaders try due to poor defence, Diss responded superbly with Freddie Potter scoring following a driving maul. Owen Davies stepped up to convert to give the home side a distinct advantage. Diss now stepped up the pace of the game playing with a true fluency that reflected the progress made over the last month. Playing with confidence and continuity further tries were scored by Kenny Sayers, Freddie Potter, Tom Parks and Finlay Martin. The Diss forwards were beginning to produce ball on the front foot and for the first time this season really attacking the breakdown with determination and gusto. A half time score of 29 – 5 reflected the dominance of the entire Diss side.
Diss maintained the momentum from the outset at the beginning of the second half. Superb handling between Stanley Spurdens and Joe Jermy sent Dylan Smith over for the Under 14’s sixth try. Further excellent handling between the three quarters allowed Dylan Smith to score his second try of the morning. Crusaders then rallied to score their second try of the match. A feat fully justified following abrasive tackling throughout the game. With minutes remaining a neat take from Bryce Cochrane sent Joe Jermy over for his first try of the game. The game concluded with an individual effort from Ben Waters from the half way line. Thus, ended a most satisfying victory for a Diss side improving week by week. The Bartrums award for Man of the Match was shared between Tom Parkes and William Wright both having outstanding games in both defence and attack.
