A rich vein of form

Diss have mined a rich vein of form in recent weeks with wins against Wymondham, Norwich, Colchester and now this romp of a victory against Woodbridge.
Diss began the game with fervour dominating from the start with a full-bodied tackle from Diss fly-half, Stanley Spurdens, causing a fumble. From the scrum, it was a lesson in quick hands as Miles Clark, Diss's dynamo at scrum-half, who moved the ball through to 10 and out via Ben Waters who displayed a neat step inside and then passed out to Joe Jermy before being moved to Drew Harris to score his first of two tries that day. A glorious try.
Woodbridge threatened to dominate in the breakdown, committing 4 or more but this left them exposed when the ball was won by Diss but they tackled well with Freddie Potter feeling the full force of a mighty hit. Undeterred though, Diss tackled equally hard back with Dylan Smith, Ben Waters, Drew Harris and Henry Robinson all putting in some belters which gave possession back to Diss and to Ben Waters to score right of the posts and follow up with an excellent conversion.
More tries followed following some excellent forwards work by Issac Powell and Freddie Potter before moving out to the backs and creating an almost carbon copy of the first try with Drew getting his second.
The pack's work at the breakdown and Diss's strong tackling was starting to overwhelm Woodbridge. Every time they looked like gaining some momentum, Diss upped their game a bit more. It was ruthless.
Try after try followed, Finn Martin’s was a 60 yeard dash brimming with power. Next, a great move involving Stan, Freddie with a big kick and Joe making space with a grubber to run onto and score a memorable try. At 0-29 Woodbridge player's aura of impending doom was palpable.
Issac scored a solid forwards try, direct and blustering over. It would be his first of four tries and an outstanding performance for a pack that has learnt the art of controlling the game.
Ben Faulkner and Jamie Wilks both scored with strong running and hand-off's to create the space. Both players benefit from being as stubborn as mules when they get going and are difficult to stop.
At halftime it was 0-46.
Woodbridge started well, but Diss snuffed out any embers of a fight back with strong tackling and rucking at the breakdown. And the same pattern followed that of the 1st half with the ball won at the breakdown by the excellent work of Josh Hayhoe, Henry Robinson and Harry Hitch, and then through the hands of the backs, Miles Clark, Stanley Spurdens, Owen Davies and out to Dylan Smith to execute the try. This was one that was made on the training ground of Mackenders.
The domination by our pack was absolute. You couldn't see any way back for Woodbridge and so it proved with tries from Joe Jermy, Diss's flanker, Henry Robinson cleaned up some messy kicking from Diss with a diagonal run and powering over for his first try, Ben Waters grabbed his second, Issac secured his hattrick and grabbed a fourth before the finality of the whistle providing the end that Woodbridge must have welcomed.
Once again the Diss players were emphatic and we can only hope that this inner belief continues on to the cup match with North Walsham on the 17th December.
It finished 0-80. Wow.
