The Winning Streak Continues

The confidence levels were high among the Diss U14's as they took to the pitch against a Norwich side they had beaten convincingly earlier in the season. Norwich were keen to demonstrate early on how they had improved and the the first engagements were well contested. Great work at the breakdown by Freddie Potter resulted in turnover ball which was popped to Lucas Dade -Ricketts at full pace. Lucas ran a full 30 metres for an outstanding individual try. 0-5
Within minutes Diss were on the attack again and the ball went through the hands to Owen Davies who was playing at the unfamiliar position of 13. Owen kicked through and the pacy winger Drew Harris was quickly through to pick up and score in the corner. 0-10
Norwich kicked off from the try and the ball was caught by Freddie Potter who set off in a direct line for the Norwich posts and was unstoppable by their defence. Owen Davies then converted for 0-17.
Norwich started to attack with renewed effort and it took a strong Diss defence to keep them out. Then from broken play Lucas Dade-Ricketts picked up and passed to Drew Harris who set off again at pace to score his second 0-23.
The game the went through another period of strong Norwich attacking moves which led to their winger scoring in the corner. 5-23
With 1/2 time approaching Henry Robinson worked the ball from the ruck and passed to Ben Faulkner. Ben made ground and popped to Joe Jermy who took the ball on further before passing to Bryce Cochrane who had come into the line from fullback. Bryce went over to score 5-28
The second half started with with Norwich having most of the possession and attacking over and over. Eventually these moves meant they worked the ball to the outside and with the Diss defence stretched, Norwich scored a second 10-28
Norwich used a similar move to score again shortly afterwards and converted. 17-28
Diss now regained the possession, Issac Powell and Archie Ryder making ground before the ball went to the backs and into the hands of Owen Davies to score. 17-33. With the last play of the game Norwich gave the ball to their very fast winger to crash through the Diss defence. 22-33
A great game by both sides with both having to play players out of position but this did not detract from the fast open play on display. The Bartrums Training Man of the Match was awarded to Drew Harris for consistent tackling and two great try finishes.
