Diss ease through to Norfolk RFU plate final

Crusaders came to Diss with reduced numbers and a hard task to cope with a dominant and confident Diss U14's. Diss agreed to play 12 aside, but with such a large squad it meant that at 1/2 time we would be able to put on 10 replacements.
The game kicked off on a cold, sunny morning with the Diss pack securing the ball from the kick off and passing through to Ben Waters at 10 to make a break through their defence. Ben, then meeting contact, popped the ball to Joe Jermy to go over to score with only 1 minute on the watch. 5-0 There was then a brief period of close play in the centre of the field with both sides contesting for the ball. Fred Potter grabbed possession and Josh Hayhoe drove him forwards before the ball went wide to Owen Davies to make a run before passing to Finlay Martin to score in the corner. 10-0
Crusaders failed to hold on in the tackle and the ball spilled forward for Diss to collect and make their way close to the Crusaders 22. Quick hands through the backs meant that Joe Jermy could loop round and collect the ball at pace to score his second. 15-0
The Diss defence was very strong and Crusaders were not seeing much of the ball.Diss were now going through the phases getting closer to line when an infringement gave them a 5 metre scrum. The backs were quickly up for a prearranged move which gave Bryce Cochrane his first try of the game 20-0
The Diss forwards have been working on attacking rucks at practice and this was evident when they drove Crusaders back freeing the ball for Freddie Potter to pick up and sprint over for a try. Ben Waters stepped up to make the conversion 27-0. With 1/2 time approaching there was still enough time for the backs to outpace the Crusaders defence again and for Bryce Cochrane to get his second try. 32-0
At 1/2 time all but two of the Diss players were substituted and the replacements were keen to play their part. Crusaders were making a renewed effort to combat these fresh legs but the Diss dominance was still the major factor and as the ball was worked again through the forwards and onto the backs Ben Waters made a convincing drive for the line and scored for 37-0.
The constant attrition of the Diss pack was having a wearing effect on Crusaders and the one or two injury concerns were having a toll on their numbers. With no obvious sign of a way back in the circumstance the Crusaders coach conceded the game with about 10 minutes of the second half gone.
So Diss U14's have made their way into the Norfolk RFU plate final on 6th May. In doing so they have won all three games scoring 198 points with only 19 against when this game was stopped early.
