Right from the kick off Diss could see they were playing a determined Colchester side and the early exchanges were very evenly contested. Diss started to gain the upper-hand in possession and moved the ball quickly through the backs only to be thwarted by a spirited Colchester defence. It was going to take something special to break the impasse and as it looked like another attack would be stopped Joe Jermy kicked ahead and picked up the ball just short of the line to score the first try. 5-0
Just after the restart the ball was passed to Finlay Martin who set off from the Diss half on one his now notorious strong runs which ended in a superb individual try. The conversion was successful 12-0
It was then Colchesters turn to find a strong powerful runner of their own as their 12 ghosted through poor Diss tackling to score 12-5
You would hope that Diss would have reacted to this try by stepping up the tackle rate but Colchester were allowed to score a carbon copy of their first try to make the score 12-12 at half time.
With the coaches advice fresh in the mind Diss looked to step up the intensity and return to the game plan. It didn't take long for Isaac Powell to pick up from a breakdown and force his way through to score. The converted try took the score to 19-12
Almost immediately the Diss forwards stepped up the tempo again and Lucas Dade-Ricketts made a run before popping the ball to Bryce Cochrane who chipped a great ball through to be chased by Finlay Martin and scored for his second. 24-12
What followed next was a brilliant forwards try with all 8 getting involved in the pick and drive towards the line. When they reached 5 metres out Will Wilcox picked up and drove over the line to score. 29-12
Diss were looking unstoppable with all facets of their game working well. A Diss penalty saw the forwards playing the phases towards the line before the ball went to the backs and Stan Spurdens jinxed his way to score. The conversion meant a score of 36-12
Colchester weren't finished and competed throughout. They were awarded a penalty 10 metres out and gave the ball to large second row who scored with some ease.36-17
With the end of the match looming Diss had the put in to a scrum and as the ball arrived at the feet of number 8 Lucas Dade-Ricketts he picked up and sprinted over half the length of the pitch to score - superb. 43-17
A highly competitive and enjoyable game for the spectator.
