DISS 1 12 Woodbridge

This was a tough experience for the U11 boys, especially those who had not yet played many competitive matches. In the first match of the day, a closely fought battle saw Woodbridge emerge as 3-1 winners, with Harry scoring the only try for Diss.

In the second encounter, Diss fielded a completely fresh team, while Woodbridge kept the same side. This probably benefited the visitors who, nonetheless, produced the best rugby of the day; some direct running and slick offloads saw them to a 7-0 victory.

With freezing hands and limbs a final half was played, with a Diss team made up from the previous two sides, losing 1-0. In awful conditions against talented opposition the Diss players kept trying to the end and this was epitomised by Toby, the Diss player of the day. Hopefully the boys will have also learnt the benefits of having plenty of clothing layers, gloves and hats to help keep warm (especially when not on the pitch).

A special mention also to the three coaches, Mark, Paul and Ali for keeping the boys (and themselves!) going in such difficult conditions.
