When the big lads of Ipswich stepped onto the pitch and faced the Diss under 9's they probably looked at Adam or Henry or Zander and sized them up. It's fair to say that as their eyes picked out the larger Diss players they missed the one player who set about taking them apart one by one. Megan.
Her tackles flew in at such pace and accuracy that time and again the Ipswich boys ended up face down in the (substantial) mud wondering what had just happened. I would wager a bet that they had never been tackled like this before and despite the rain, the cold and general miserableness of the Sunday morning the Diss team were worth much more than the one try they scored and much of it was down to the tackling from Diss.
But what of Megan? Who can make an argument that a diminutive stature is a handicap in Rugby? It was awe inspiring and from a parents point of view made us forget about the torrid conditions. (Did I mention the rain yet?).

After the match, Megan was heard to grumble that she didn't think she had tackled particularly well - but make no mistake, this was the performance of the season. But I don't want to make this into the Megan show. Arthur, Henry, Stanley, Adam, Zanda, Elliott and Keeley put in great performances and all wondered after the game why Bury had gone home because of the weather leaving them with just the one game to play. The Diss under 9's have the heart of lions with the stubbornness of lionesses. It's a potent mix.
