Vixens visit to the Cambridge Eastern Counties Festival

Thanks to the five fit and upright under 13s that made it to Cambridge Eastern Counties Festival and to their parents for tagging along?
Well done to all for making the greater part of a collective team with LH-2 Sudbury 2 and crusaders 3
Lost first game to Peterborough 1 (yes they’ve got more than one team so they have to label them )
by lots to 1 but really lots only because we kept giving away possession to athletes and a team that tackled strongly and always had someone in support.(remember those from training)

Second game against Peterborough 2 ( luxury) the mixed team started to gel well - getting 7 tries against 2. Lovely to see Megan C having the confidence to run with ball in hand. Belles awake after her Spanish venture showing how strong she can be in contact and intelligent in decision making. Persa using her turn of speed to finish moves with tries on several occasions and Megan R putting in her usual hard working performance playing off others and demonstrating excellent vision in attack and defence.

Third game against a strong Cambridge squad, we are now playing 12 a side and 5 player scrums. Cambridge 2 up looked like they were going to pile up some points...........and then it happened like the the sun coming out .......intensity..........and we started playing rugby.......not for long ........just long enough to get those 2 tries back and then stop concentrating.......poor restarts gave Cambridge a 4-2 lead and Morgan pulled one back after a great phased effort from a combination of players. A late equaliser was disallowed for whatever reason .........score stayed at 4-3.
So in the end it wasn’t too bad and it’s only by playing matches that you can put into practice what we cover in training. Some consistency in performance the games coming up would be good, but generally like what I’m seeing ?
