Sunday 14th of July is a huge day in the sporting calendar – the Cricket World Cup Final, the men’s Final at Wimbledon and the David Ford Memorial Bowls Match. The serious sports fans will be at Pulham Market Bowls Club where the action starts at 2pm, just after the pubs shut. Diss Rugby Club are still smarting after seeing a healthy half time lead frittered away last year meaning they’ve failed to lift The David Ford Tankard in all eight years. It’s wrong to apportion blame but Gavin Brock melted under pressure.
Determined to turn the tide skipper Will Foote has selected a team containing the guile of Robert Gooderham, the ballast of David Pask and the aggression of Tony Wigby. The ever popular but slightly hopeless Jock Mclauchlan is back from suspension, the Tomson Twins are back from altitude training while the fitness of Chris Beaird remains a doubt. Garry White looks set to be awarded his first cap, 25 years after playing skittles for Norfolk under 10s.
Please come along a support the day and have a drink with our wonderful past president and friend David.
