Sunday 11th December Lowestoft U16s v Diss U16s

Diss visited Lowestoft & Yarmouth to get revenge from losing four weeks ago. Diss borrowed four players from U15s to compete w ith a full team. Very thankful we are to them. L & Y started poorly with a series of errors. Diss took an early try as Miles Smith ran through the middle for a try by the posts. George Jones converted. Shortly George broke out of their half and stampeded the wing being chased, but scored in the corner. L & Y found their strength in their pack, coming back at Diss through their maul, forcing their way for two tries, one converted to bring the scores equal twelve each. Right on half time Nat Strange ran the left wing for a try in the corner. Uncoverted. A longer break for half time as the ref had to retire after possible Hamstring strain. A replacement found amongst the Diss parents. The second half L & Y really turned it on with their mauling and pick and go forced another unconverted try to equal the score again. Diss made mistakes of playing L & Y at their own game but came off worse as three times driven over the line to touch down but deemed held up. But got there on the fourth attempt. Diss were losing. Diss had to change tack. Their attacks went wide, lots of ball movement that lead Sam Evans running a try in under the posts then again converted. L & Y were fading, they didn't have much defence with Diss running them as Alfie Burnett ran the left wing and taking the ball in for another converted try. Followed by a similar manoeuvre from James Webster on the right wing for the final converted try. Diss certainly turned the table on L & Y after real hard fought game, with both teams taking knocks in a game both teams wanted to win. Lowestoft &Yarmouth 22 Diss 38.
