Crusaders U16's 0 v 67 Diss RFC

Diss had a squad of 23 players available for the opening game of the Cup competition and were looking to get off to a good start to their campaign. Very shortly after the kick off Lewis McNamara picked up a loose ball and ran through to score. Tom Parks-Lewis converted 0-7.
The Diss scrum won a scrum against the head and Lewis picked up at number eight and sprinted through for his second in 5 minutes. 0-12
Clearly dominant and supported by the pack it was Lewis again for his hat trick shortly afterwards 0-17
The backs were in fine form also and Joe Jermy kicked through for Drew Harris to sprint onto the ball and touchdown. The conversion made it 0-24
Possession was contested and won by the forwards and the backs were running moves over and over. One such move saw Stan Spurdens score from 13 with a text book move. 0-29
Captain Freddie Potter stole the ball from Crusaders in the ball and it was quickly passed out to Finlay Martin on the wing to score. The conversion made it 0-36
With half time approaching Henry Robinson suddenly found the ball in his hands and he sprinted through to score. The conversion made it 0-43 at half time.
The second half started with another great backs move finished off by winger Finlay Martin who then converted his try 0-50
It was very pleasing to see the wingers scoring demonstrating that the backs moves were creating space and allowed Drew to score a second 0-55
Drew didn't need to wait long for his hat trick and after a number 8 pickup and run it was through the backs again to the wing and Drew scored 0-60
With the end of the game approaching there was just time to allow Finlay Martin to score and convert to finish 0-67.
There was some tremendous play by all the squad but the Anglian Demolition man of the match is awarded to Ben Faulkner. Ben had a tremendous game in attack and defence.
