Woodfordes Norfolk Cup First Round - Swaffham 10 : 97 Diss

Diss showed Swaffham Rugby Club total respect by fielding a strong side for their Norfolk Cup First round encounter. Diss were however, far too strong in all departments and produced a thoroughly professional performance from both backs and forwards alike. Jack Keppel was supplied with quality possession all afternoon and controlled the game wonderfully from Fly Half, converting eleven of the fifteen tries scored. He was able to dictate the pattern of play and orchestrate a wide variety of intricate and expressive moves for the three- quarter line. A number of key players were also returning from injury and were able to use this encounter as a bench mark for their fitness levels. George Gooderham showed that from the base of the scrummage he still has raw pace and power and Michael Fuller now seems to be back to his best form. A further exciting addition to the side playing Swaffham was also the introduction of Kaine Rix, who marked his debut with two well taken second half tries.

First half tries were scored by Matt Trede, Giles West(3), John Bergin(2), Michael Filler and Dougie Moir. In the second half further tries were scored by George Gooderham, Kaine Rix(2) Gus McGrath, Peter Bray(2) and hooker Ryan Carter. Swaffham never gave up and should be commended for the effort and determination they showed on what proved a very demanding and difficult afternoon.
