Diss regained the Harrison Cup in an encounter that highlighted the intent of both Clubs to play an open and expansive game

Diss regained the Harrison Cup in an encounter that highlighted the intent of both Clubs to play an open and expansive game, thoroughly enjoyed by the large crowd present.

Diss set off at a rapid pace and following an outstanding break from Jon Trede and a series of ruthless driven rucks close to the Holt line, Charlie Crotty crashed over to score. Jack Keppel missed the conversion but Diss were now dictating the tempo of the game. On 15 minutes Jack Keppel found William Scott with a peach of an off-load allowing Scott the opportunity to score the first of his three tries. Keppel stepped up to convert and Diss had already established a 12-nil advantage. The attacking momentum was maintained for the remainder of the half and following a sequence of superb handling between Matt Richards, Matt Cullum, Jack Keppel and Will Scott a further try was scored by the hard running Adam Goymour . On 34 minutes Jack Keppel yet again released Will Scott through the midfield to send the aggressive running Dan Hooper over in the corner. Adam Goymour stepped up to convert from the touch line. As the half approached its conclusion Diss found themselves 24 nil to the good and in total command. Holt however had different ideas. On 40 minutes Oliver Westanage skipped through the Diss defence and following a successful conversion Holt were suddenly on the scoreboard.

The second half began in the same vein as the first with Diss on the front foot. However, following a series of careless and inaccurate Diss handling errors Holt responded in a most positive fashion. Three converted tries were scored by the visitors in the space of fifteen minutes and Diss now found themselves 28-24 in arrears and facing a charged up and totally rejuvenated opposition. Fraser Hall now appeared from the bench and a sense of calm descended onto the events unfolding . Jack Keppel now took tactical control of the game, Joe Seaman had been inspirational all afternoon from the base of the scrum and the more experienced forwards rose for one last push towards victory. With the Diss scrum in total command and Chris Craven taking balls against the head at will , Jack Keppel yet again found Will Scott with a superb off – load to send the centre in for his second try. With seven minutes remaining Keppel yet again found Scott , who duly completed his hat-trick. Adam Goymour stepped up to complete the afternoon’s festivities. A wonderful match of competitive and entertaining rugby enjoyed by two Clubs passionate about promoting the traditional Club rugby ethos.
