Diss produced the season’s definitive performance against local rivals Holt in an encounter that was always going to be combative and fully contested, Diss found a real cutting edge and concluded the contest in total command.

Early exchanges were evenly contested with neither side establishing a clear advantage. On eleven minutes, Diss pressure allowed Philip LeLievre to draw first blood with an easy penalty in front of the posts. Holt missed two kickable penalties of their own to then see Matt Richards crash through the middle of an attacking ruck to score the opening try for the home side. On thirty seven minutes following creative play from the Diss three-quarters just outside the Holt twenty two, Kami Latu sliced through to score under the posts. Philip LeLievre stepped up to convert and Diss now had a developing foothold in the game. Defensively Diss had by now established supremacy with the likes of Michael Fuller, Fraser Hall and Jamie Burroughs all repelling any Holt threat.

For some weeks now Diss have been threatening to cut loose and totally dominate. The introduction of the powerful running George Gooderham had the desired impact early in the second half. Early first phase possession followed by excellent handling set up a superb try for Josh Ludkin to establish a clear advantage. For the first time this season Diss went for the jugular and on fifty six minutes Philip LeLievre scored an outstanding individual try , side stepping in true Phil Bennett fashion towards the Holt line. LeLeivre converted his own try to not only secure maximum bonus points but to also put the game beyond the reach of the visitors. Jamie Burroughs at scrum half was yet again producing a most mature and accomplished performance allowing Jack Peacock the opportunity to orchestrate affairs from fly half.

As the game entered the final quarter Diss attacked from within their own half and unleashed Sean McClure down the left wing to score and then convert his own try. At every opportunity Diss now attacked from all over the park and following a series of outstanding off-loads and driving play, Captain Fraser Hall scored the sixth try. In an attempt to counter from their own half an unfortunate charge down was seized upon by the quick thinking Sean McClure who chased the spinning ball into the dead ball area to score his second try and conclude the proceedings for the afternoon.

Diss now enter the Christmas break in a positive frame of mind from which to launch a counter attack against League pace setters Saffron Walden.
