Diss produced a sublime performance of total domination, not only reflected within the score but also across all facets of the game. In the forwards Diss dominated the set piece and the breakdown whilst exerting a thoroughly effective off-loading game. In the three quarters Diss expressed themselves with a freedom that augers well for the demanding season ahead.

On 12 minutes following a decisive break from Sean McClure, Philip LeLievre scored the opening try, converted by McClure. Diss now began to dominate possession. Scrummaging dominance led to a clean strike against the head that pressured Holt to infringe at a Diss attacking ruck. McClure stepped up to secure a further three points. On 27 minutes, the lethal combination of Steve Hipwell, Fraser Hall and Sean McClure combined to send the inform Chris Beaird over in the right hand corner. McClure converted and Diss were now firmly in command. At Scrum half, Alex Leader was enjoying a comfortable journey behind a dominant pack that allowed him to express himself through a quick service and blossoming running game.

On 31 minutes, Leader broke through on two separate occasions, eventually touching down, thus allowing McClure the opportunity of securing Diss their third goal of the game. Now totally dominating the game, Diss began to off load attacking ball at will. On the stroke of half time LeLievre scored his second try, securing a well-deserved bonus point.

Diss began the second half yet again on the front foot with Sean McClure orchestrating affairs superbly from fly half. Forwards and backs were now expressing a confidence that stretched Holt to the limit. Two further penalties secured by McClure were the direct result of inter play from the back row combination of Steve Hipwell, John Laurie and Michael Fuller. As the final quarter approached, a Holt attack was seized upon by Philip LeLievre, who sprinted and then jinked has way over from half way. Holt were now finding the relentless nature of each Diss attack extremely demanding.

On 68 minutes following quick ball retention, a series of simple accurate passes through the three quarters set up Giles West for the try of the day. Diss have not lost a home League game for two years and continued to pressure Holt to the games conclusion. With minutes remaining the award of a penalty on the Holt twenty two allowed Steve Hipwell to take a quick tap to then crash over with a number of Holt players flailing in his wake. So concluded an excellent performance from the home side that will send out the appropriate positive message to the other Clubs in the League.
