Diss produced a performance of total and unrelenting authority that maintains their top of the table status.

Diss produced a performance of total and unrelenting authority that maintains their top of the table status. Playing up a profound slope, Diss pressure eventually set up a try for Sean McClure following a determined Stephen Hipwell break through the midfield. Campion immediately responded to a Diss error from within their own twenty two to draw level with a converted try of their own.

A lack of self-discipline kept the home side in the game until the beginning of the second quarter. At this point Diss took total control. Taking the ball against the head allowed Stephen Hipwell to score a push over try. The driving play of Hipwell, John Laurie and Kimi Latu now battered the Campion defence at regular intervals setting up William Hudson for a third Diss try. The flood gates now sprang open with the Diss three quarter line beginning to relish the unrelenting and fast ball being delivered to them on a plate. Following an outstanding pass by Philip LeLievre, John Laurie and Kimi Latu combined to send Sean McClure over for his second converted try. On 32 minutes Diss attacked from deep in their own half. The ever present Chris Baird made a break down the left wing to be tackled towards the touch line. Before hitting the ground Baird flicked the ball infield to release Warren Wilby who fed Philip LeLievre to score an absolutely outstanding try. The first half concluded with another Wilby break that sent the flying Giles West over to give the visitors a bonus point lead of 40 -10 at the interval.

The second half proved to be a one sided affair from start to finish with Diss showing no mercy and displaying a continuity that the bottom of the table side could not live with. A further Wilby break set up Chris Beard for the opening try of the half. McClure had his kicking boots on all afternoon and converted the Beard try from the touchline. The veteran, Tim Groom then stepped up to the party scoring a well- deserved try after wonderful approach work from John Laurie. Dominating all phases meant that Jamie Burroughs at Scrum half was able to orchestrate affairs as he wished. Burroughs was stopped short of the line on a number of occasions to then see Stephen Hipwell and Tim Groom crash over for two more tries. The Diss three quarters now decided that they had seen enough of the forwards trundling over the line and further tries were scored by Giles West, Chris Beard, Freddie Precious and Sean McClure.

Campion showed remarkable resilience and heart in facing an eighty minute onslaught. The return of Warren Wilby has certainly given the Diss attacking model new impetus and options.
