For the first time this season Diss travelled away from home and secured all the spoils from yet another free flowing encounter.

For the first time this season Diss travelled away from home and secured all the spoils from yet another free flowing encounter. Diss were able to assert themselves from the start and immediately showed their intention of stretching the Braintree forwards across the field in order to use third or fourth phase position to create clear opportunities and openings. After 5 minutes Matt Richards scored close to the posts following excellent close quarter work from an already dominant pack.

After fifteen minutes Jack Peacock then slotted an easy penalty to ease Diss into a 10 nil lead. Within the next five minutes Diss totally dominated the game, playing really expansive rugby with both forwards and backs interacting in a most positive way. Paul Cayley, John Bergin, Henry Passmore and Captain Fraser Hall all led from the front, driving play deep into the heart of the Braintree defence, thus enabling Tom Holt, the prolific Giles West and Jamie Burroughs opportunities to score within this five minute period. Diss led 29-0 at half time having totally dominated all aspects of the first half.

Diss continued to dominate play in the second half and following driving forward play close to the Braintree line Tom Holt was able to score wide out on the right. Jack Peacock then converted with an outstanding conversion from close to the touch line. Whilst totally dominating play, Diss did over- elaborate phases of the game and errors did creep into their play. That said, Fraser Hall popped up half way through the second half to burst through from 15 metres to score. The evergreen Tim Groom then appeared from the bench and after only two minutes scored a trademark close quarter try to keep the momentum going. Braintree then responded with a deserved try of their own following a brief period of pressure in the Diss twenty two. Ryan Carter , making his First team debut completed the scoring, driving close to the Braintree line, following continued dominant play from the Diss pack. Jack Peacock converted six of the eight tries scored and controlled affairs very confidently, receiving an excellent service from Jamie Burroughs. A fine all-round performance highlighting the progress and confidence developing within the Diss squad.
