Diss completely shattered Chelmsford’s bubble with an emphatic victory that sends the other top Clubs in the League the appropriate message as we approach the festive season.

The opening engagements were in fact very even , with Chelmsford actually slightly dominating the early scrummage exchanges and possession. However, whenever Diss entered the Chelmsford half, they came away with the spoils. On 14 minutes, Gus McGrath scored following a sweeping backs move and on 25 minutes Josh Ludkin also combined with the three quarters to score a very well taken try and place Diss in a 10-0 lead. On 30 minutes Diss attacked again into the Chelmsford half and following superb retention of the ball by Josh Ludkin, Matt Richards crashed over for try number three converted by Jack Peacock. Chelmsford now attacked close to the Diss line and threatened with a number of 5 metre scrums but as has been the case recently, the Diss defence stood firm and repelled any threat to lead 17 -0 on the break.

Diss began the second half in dominating form and began by creating a series of off-loads between the forwards and backs, that tore the Chelmsford defence apart. On 42 minutes, Warren Wilby scored a further try converted by Jack Peacock that secured a crucial bonus point. Five minutes later, Josh Ludkin, who was without doubt having his best game of the season so far, scored his second try, converted by Adam Goymour. Diss now attacked from every phase, with Jamie Burroughs, at scrum half, controlling and orchestrating wave after wave of thrusts, that ultimately led to Warren Wilby scoring two further tries on 53 and 65 minutes . Wilby’s tries were converted by Adam Goymour and Jack Keppel respectively. Henry Passmore then finished off a superb flowing move, that had been created by the raw power and pace of Peter Bray. Adam Goymour then produced a wonderful long range conversion to bring up the Diss half century. On 72 minutes Josh Ludkin then completed the total destruction of the League leaders with his third converted try of the afternoon.
