After the previous weeks 12 all draw the Saracens again made the trip to Norwich this time for the cup semi-final with a more balanced if not full strength team. Norwich started brightly and kicked an early penalty but the Saracens then dominated the rest of the half showing some of their all action handling game. A surging run from youngster Joe Brock set up the position for Stu Awcock to score, Seb Goodge converting. Awcock, playing his best game of the season, then scored again before youngster Brock finished the forwards driving maul for a third. The returning John Hutchinson helped give the Diss pack the upper hand at set piece and this proved to be the difference between the teams.
The second half saw multiple stops of play by the referee and credit to Norwich who adapted better to the situation and came back strongly at Diss with their quick tap penalties proving effective and in the process scoring two tries. Diss had a player sin binned but still managed to score a sweetly struck drop goal by Seb Goodge after good pressure from the remainder of the pack. Norwich continued to attack whenever possible but Diss held on for a home final next week against Beccles 2s after their victory over North Walsham 2s in the other semi-final.
