From the kick off Diss found themselves under pressure defending on their own line, while Dereham preferred the more physical direct approach it soon became clear that the handling of the Diss team was better and eventually an intercept from Benny Goodham who ran almost 5 yards before being tackled by a prop led to a counterattack with Josh Monks charging over, a magnificent sideline conversion from Seb Goodge making it 7-0. Pete Bray powered over after more good handling before Dereham replied with a try and penalty to make it 12-10 at half time.
Dereham continued to play well in the second half but found themselves under pressure at the scrum from both Wilbur Hemmant and then Dougie Moir and after some sustained phases of play Diss scored a further 4 tries from Jake Girdler (2), Travis Miller and another from Monks with Goodge adding the conversions. Youngsters Charlie Oakes, Ethan Page, Ben Fidler and Henry Barrett followed the lead of their more experienced forwards and played well throughout against more experienced opposition, while Dereham managed a try late on to add to their first half effort.
