Powerful pack dominate Ipswich...

A tough fixture looked likely away against an Ipswich team enjoying a good season in the Suffolk merit table combined with many of the regular Saracens players involved in the first team including top try scorer Taylan Miller and with Josh Monks the forwards top try scorer back in Australia for Christmas.

However the forward power of Diss proved too much for Ipswich scoring three push over tries while the aggressive running of Adam Rogers playing centre for the first time proved equally unstoppable as he ran in 4 tries.

Debutant full back William Thompson, the grandson of former Diss stalwart Andy, provided great work rate and commitment at the back for Diss and the pace of Benny Goodman and the returning Ali Thomas provided a good foil for Rogers in the centre. Karlton Gray used his bulk to good effect to barge over for two tries. Perhaps most impressive of all was veteran William Foote lasting for 50 minutes of the match and in that time taking the glory at the back of the scrum for two push over tries created by the power of Hutchinson, Passmore, Gray, Jacobs and Page. The reliable boot of Seb Goodge added the conversions and constantly pinned Ipswich back in their own half with a series of howitzer kicks in open play.

Ipswich came close to scoring on a number of occasions and only last gasp defence from Garnham, Fidler, Newman and Barrett in particular kept them at bay. This was a pleasing afternoon’s work providing plenty of selection dilemmas for next week.
