Diss Saracens extended their unbeaten run to 12 games on Saturday and in the process beat the second placed team in the Suffolk Premiership.

Stowmarket were very worthy opponents and boasted a formidable pack. However Diss once again had too much pace and gallop for their opponents and when they managed to get the ball into the wider channels they always looked threatening.

The Trede brothers, Chev and Pat, are a pair of racing snakes and gave Stowmarket kittens whenever they got the ball in space. They were well served by their inside back partners Horace Horslen and William Edwards and then in the second half by veteran Sebastian Goodge who joined the fray having been out for the last 5 weeks with a big head injury.

In the forwards the challenge for Diss was to provide the backs with good quality possession. The Stowmarket pack were heavier, started with a head of steam and played down the slope. But the Diss pack weathered the storm and slowly gained a foothold. The fitness and youth in the Diss back row of Will Foote, Vic Garnham and Will Colborn plus the strong running of dangerous Dale Gooderman enabled Diss to increase the tempo and essentially play their game and not Stowmarket's.

The first half ended three tries to one with Will Colborn stealing a score from a line-out, Pat Trede scoring having chased a kick from deep while Chev Trede scored after an arcing run. While Stowmarket were in the game at half time, Diss monopolised play in the second half. Diss now had the slope in their favour and their superior fitness told. Chev Trede scored his second try after starting from inside his own half. Horace Horslen was next to score before being replaced by Sebastian Goodge who in turn dummied his way over too. Mike McMaster came off the bench and scored a muscular effort from centre. William Edwards kicked two conversions.
