in the first few minutes after a charged down kick and poor positional play at the back. Slowly they started to play more as a unit and the strong running of Raymond Knapp gave Diss their first try. The father son combination of Ken and Jed Oakshot provided the Saracens with a blend of experience and youth, Colts player Vic Garnham showed a great work rate all afternoon with captain William Foote squirreling away at the rucks. Good build up work again from Diss saw the ball go to prop Sooty Smith who with dazzling footwork stepped through the defence for the try, with Jed Oakshot converting. Sudbury were a much stronger outfit than the one that lost by 70 points at Diss and played with the greater determination and commitment for much of the afternoon and quickly scored again leaving it 19-12 in their favour at half time.
The strong running of Stan McQueen featured throughout the match and his support of Jed Oakshotts clever work resulted in a long range try. However back came Sudbury as the scrum half ran through a weak tackle at the back to score again. Diss pressed for the winning score in the last few minutes but Sudbury held on for a deserved victory.
