Wymondham 5 : 31 Diss - 17th September 2016

Diss Saracens made the short journey to Wymondham on Saturday and from the kick off the Saracens started with physical intent to come away with a bonus win. Within the 1st few minutes Diss won a penalty which was kicked to the corner and from the resulting line out hooker Richard Horne crashed over to score.

Diss held the ascendancy in the set piece and from another line out in Wymondhams half Richard Horne went over for his and Diss's second try.

For the first 30 minutes Diss played with structure and continued to make hard yards and were asking questions of Wymondhams defence which to their credit was in the main standing firm. After a number of good phases an overlap was generated on the blind side where winger Jay Kindlysides touched down in the corner.

The final 10 minutes of the 1st half was scrappy from the Saracens point of view and through indecision on their own 22 the Wymondham No. 8 picked up the loose ball and raced his way to the try line to reduce the deficit and Diss lead 17-5 at the break.

Diss were determined to start the second half strongly and spoke of the importance of getting the next score. Although they did not concede during this period Diss spent the 3rd quarter coughing up possession and defending Wymondhams strongest period of the game.

Trevor Edwards experience was evident at fly half and he managed to edge the Saracens in to the opposition half. They spent the final 20 mins in the ascendancy and scored two further tries with Trevor jinking in under the posts to score the bonus point try.

With the game now won Diss reproduced the strong running and offloading game which they had started with and good hands in the backline put Tiger Shaw in the corner with the final play of the game to secure a 31-5 win.

Diss look forward to the visit of Norwich next week where they will be hoping to make it 3 wins from 3.
