Diss continue their impressive unbeaten run, with a 50-11 try fest against Norwich Medics at Mackenders

With an explosive and unmeditated start, it resulted in a very high flowing game of rugby and a spectacular game to watch for the crowd. Early exchanges of interlink play with Diss Saracens saw some impressive yardage gained, but to start lacked the finishing touch to execute some points. Norwich Medics are a very athletic and competitive side and Diss and Medics have always closely competed in this fixture and certainly gave Diss something to think about in the first half. The first points came through Wilbur Hemmant of Diss Saracens, allowing Adam Goymour to ably convert close to the posts. Norwich Medics however with their free flowing game, evened the score very swiftly with some quick and expansive rugby to also score, but missing the conversion making it 7-5 mid way through the first half. Diss struck back soon after, with the in form Nick yager in the 2nd row dotting down midway-between the posts and touchline, Adam Goymour failing to convert by hitting the post. The referee kept the game free flowing, but certainly made it clear about any back chat and penalising fairly swiftly with any offsides. From this, with some impressive forwards play in particular Paul Cayley and Karlton Gray carrying well. Norwich Medics did not realease, allowing Adam Goymour to kick for 3 points to make the score 15-5. This wasn’t the final points to be scored in the first half as Norwich Medics remained to be relentless and scored and converted to make it 15-12 at half-time.

This was a tight game, certain to be a score in similar fashion as per the normal between these sides. But with Captain Adam Goymour, briefing the team before the game that the point difference is the only thing seperating Diss from being on top as Fakenham RFC have had some big wins, so this second half required further dominance in retaining posession to not only close out the game but close the gap with the point difference between 1st and 2nd place in the league. The second half certainly was a try fest, as Diss were the only side to score and didn’t they score! Adding a further 35 points to the scoreline, with a further 5 tries and 5 conversions. With Pau Cayley, Jay Z Kindleysides, Zac Seaward and two last very impressive end to end tries scored by Jordan Dunning and Tiger Shaw. Man of the match was awarded to Jordan Dunning, for the relentless fitness, attitude and desire to keep Diss on the front foot with his running. Special mentions however must also go to Karlton Gray, Henry Passmore and Zac Seward with some impressive carrying, tackling and distribution throughout the game.

Next week see’s Diss Saracens against Broadland and Gt.Yarmouth away in what will be a thrilling and tough fixture.
