Diss III 38-3 Stowmarket II

.. enjoying a previously undefeated season in the Suffolk Merit table.

With several new combinations playing it took a while for the Saracens to gel but eventually they broke down the determined defence for Ethan Page to charge over for the opening score. Stowmarket then managed a period of time in the Diss half but could only convert a penalty for their efforts. Back came Diss and from good work by the forwards the ball came out for the strong running James Nicols who hit a clever line to score with Seb Goodge converting. The older Stowmarket team tried their best to use their experience to disrupt some of the Diss young players but to little effect and the skill of the Diss team started to tell as Nicols again powered over for another try and Goodge converting for a 19-3 half time lead.

Full back Steve Mcqueen gave the Saracens a far better attacking threat than usual and eventually broke through to score a well-deserved try with Goodge converting. Diss continued to have to work hard to score their tries and after a change of direction Goodge linked with the mobile Karlton Grey to sprint over from 5 yards to score. With time running out another change of direction put Nicols into space and he run in his third from long distance with Goodge converting to finish the match.
