Diss began the new year with this local derby against a Norwich side who travelled short of numbers but got boosted by players from Diss who thankfully joined in with the spirit of rugby and helped play for the opposition. The game ended up being thirteen a side but still was enjoyable enough to run off the Christmas rustiness. Diss began brightly and once the game got going, and you ignored tackling your own players in a Norwich shirt, was enjoyable. Free flowing rugby was played, Jack Owen showed his versatility by playing full back and scored in the first half as Andy McAllister from inside centre ran around. Further tries in the half were scored by Jordan Harris and McAllister himself. Midway through the half Norwich got into the game and put pressure on the Diss try line but to no avail and with penalties flowing in the bad weather for offside the game was stop start. Benny Goodman kept the game flowing at fly half for Diss and Charlie Oakes kept the referee on his toes. Good lineout ball from Nick Yager enabled Diss to continue their dominance and Ben Brooks was a threat at outside centre and at half time the game was 27-0. Norwich started with a flurry in the second half and after a try by Jack Owen who was more than happy to be back in the forwards Norwich scored to get into the game. Diss continued to dominate and with Ethan Page running off his Christmas weight kept Norwich on the back foot. Two further tries followed for Diss and the game finished with Norwich getting back onto the scoresheet with a try that was followed by the final whistle.
