Diss 3rds 48 : 7 Wymondham - 25th February 2017

Diss took on local rivals Wymondham and came away with a convincing home win. There were changes to the normal side, Will Foote showed his versatility by moving to scrum half, Jo Brock and Matt Richards came in from the 1st team and Ben Spurgeon played his first game for five years played in the second row, Jack Owen made himself available for the first time in this year and the rest of the team was the normal group of core players. Diss took an early lead by the try of the match by Adam Williamson who skipped down the left flank to score out wide. Move of the day involved captain Benny Goodman who took a pop pass of Williamson to run from the half way line to be stopped short on the five metre line. Diss took the lineout and scored from it to add another try. More attacking play by Foote at scrum half and Brock at eight kept Wymondham on the back foot and 3 more tries were added in the second half.

The second half continued as the first, Nick Yager scored from a pushover try and Matt Richards took a cross field kick to score also. Diss added another try through Tim Styles in the half which was sandwiched between a try by the Wymondham centre, which gave the Wymondham visitors something to cheer about. Another try scoring attempt went begging for captain Goodman, who was now on the wing, who again got stopped short of the try line attempting to beat several players to score. Ben Brooks on the wing made several breaks and was unfortunate not to score and Owen Atkinson did a good job being solid at full back. Final whistle went with Diss 3rds 48 points up to Wymondhams 2nd/3rds 7.
