UEA 40 : 10 Diss - 10th October 2015

Diss travelled to the University of Norwich with a side still being put together on the day, players being take to the 2nd team and players unavailable in the morning of the match didn’t help matters but however Diss still went into the game with high hopes. Twenty minutes into the game and all was going well at 0-0 but then two injuries in quick sucession to Steve Macqueen and Warwick Bowen meant Diss had to readjust the already stretched back line to cover the injuries. Andy Mcallister who was a threat at number eight had to move into the backs and Johnso Smith had to move into the flank for his first game of his senior career. Eventually the pace and precision of the students paid off and they scored in the corner with ten minutes of the half remaining. Soon after they broke through again through the middle to score close to the posts. Diss counter attacked but with players out of position it was difficult and after play went past the forty minute mark the game continued until UEA went over again. Diss came back into the game into the second half and scored a penalty try after continued law breaking by the students and Jo Kindly Sides went over from close range, this was however outside four tries by the UEA who were just too quick, powerful and well drilled and with several numbers on the bench all were fit and kept Diss on the back for for most of the second half.
