Diss 3s 35 : 20 Watton - 24th October 2015

Diss had their first home game of the season and played league rivals Watton. The game started with Andrew Thorpe returning to activities for the first time in three or four seasons and scored almost straight away with a mazy run. Diss continued attacking and managed to get some turnover ball by Nick Yager and after a run close to the try line and offloaded to Jack Owen to score. Soon after a kick through by the Watton full back landed close to Andrew Thorpe and he put on the speed and scored out wide. The scrums with Will Appleton, Stuart Popplewell and Chris Smith being solid helped Diss and with Toby Boom playing his first game at fly half Diss were always on the front foot. Again after another Watton kick through the James Hayhoe at centre released the ball and eventually the ball went out wide to Jordan Harris. Watton attacked after Diss gave away penalties and came close to scoring. Again after some good line out work Diss managed to score again out wide with the ball going through several hands and again Jordan Harris scored out wide. Watton won a lineout in Diss’s twenty two and got on the scoresheet themselves with a good try by Tiger Shaw. The half-finished with another try for Andrew Thorpe under the posts after Ben Brooks went close out wide. Half time the score was 30-7. The second half was mainly Watton all second half who upped their game and managed to score two tries in the half mainly because Diss were poor at the breakdown and gave away several penalties and Watton profited from this. Diss managed to score one unconverted tries themselves through Andrew Thorpe who got replaced by another youngster coming through the ranks and if the game had gone on another ten minutes Watton could have changed the result but Diss held on to win 35-20.
