Holt 10 : 25 Diss 3s - 7th November 2015

Diss continued their excellent recent run against North Norfolk rivals Holt 3rds with a comfortable 25-10 win on Saturday. The highlight and first try of the match came after 18 minutes when Robert Spinks rounded off a flowing backline move to touch down for the game's opening try. Benny Goodman initially fed the ball to full-back Fergus Newman before continuing his run to come up in support of Spinks who got fed the ball by Ben Brooks, Goodman then delivered a perfectly timed inside pass for Spinks to go over out wide. Diss threated to score on many occasion with Jordan Harris going close on the right wing and Fergus Newman close to scoring from full back. The game was hampered by many penalties and at times Holt threated the Diss try line but the defence was strong especially Jack Owen and Mike Jones. The scrums continued their dominance with David Rackham and Chris Smith holding their own and the line outs were solid by with Nick Yager and Gareth Watts taking all of their own ball and stealing some of Holts. In the dying minutes of the first half a penalty scored by Naz Gurgin gave Diss a half time score of 8-0. The second half was more of an even contest with Holt making changes to their side and with this they had the upper hand for the first ten minutes. Diss however scored first in the half when a looping pass to winger Ben Brooks gave him space and time to score. Holt replied with a try of their own when their second row went over to keep them within distance of Diss. Diss had their best period of the game and scored two tries close to each other by more good scrummaging work and lineout work and replacement full back Ben Watts went over for his first try for the club after a good off load and Ethan Page scored close to the posts to pull the game away from Holt. Holt kept attacking and managed to get themselves on the scoreboard again with a well worked try but with the game had gone at this point and even though Holt finished attacking the Diss try line the referee blew for the final whistle.
