The Blue and Whites of Diss 3s were full value for their win after dominating for large periods and they eventually outscored their visitors ten tries to three with young colt Nat Strange leading the way with a brace.
Lakenham Hewitt made a terrific start and raced into a 5-0 lead thanks to an early try from their centre when a mistake in the middle of the pitch gave the opportunity for a chip and chase.
Diss replied via a Owen Atkinson try in the 15th minute and soon after a penalty try was awarded after Naz Girgin was pulled back with a high tackle on the try line. A further try was scored when captain Benny Goodman found himself in space and he sent through a kick which found Chris Trede out wide to score under the posts. Lakenham struck back with a further five-pointer from close range but another pushover try by Atkinson gave Diss a bonus point by half time. The half back partnership of Seb Goodge and Zac Seaward started to pull the right strings and
the hosts were fastest out of the blocks after the restart and two tries from Nat Strange and one for Ben Brooks increased the margin even more. Lakenham came back with a try of their own but Diss returned the stronger and tries from Zac Seaward, John Alexander and James Winterbottom sealed an emphatic victory. Adnams Prosecco man of the match went to Naz Girgin who was influential all game in attack and in defence. Diss welcome the students of the UEA this coming weekend.
