Tim Styles takes the headlines away from the returning Will Foote as Diss coast past Southwold
Diss came back from two successive defeats to return to form with a resounding victory against Southwold's second string. Very rarely do you get a player go to the pre- match lunch and play the same afternoon but with Tim Styles enjoying a comeback Diss took full points and ensured the league campaign will go down to the wire. Ten tries were scored in all, 6 in the first half and four in the second as they went past the 50 mark in the dying minutes. The game came to life early on when a break through the middle gave space out wide for Styles, who got a perfect pass from Andy Thorpe to score the first try. With conditions similar to those who enjoy farming Diss continued to play better than the mud and rain would let them, especially Danny Pickess who played a splendid game at scrum half, and further tries were scored in the half by Thomas Webster, Andrew Thorpe, after captain Benny Goodman played a perfect Coventry, another for Styles and on his return a try for former captain Will Foote. Southwold by now had got themselves a stronghold on the ball and ensured they had a say in things with a try just before half time to give themselves a much-needed boost against a rampant third team not normally playing to this level. Half time bonus point in the bag and the Thirds could enjoy the rest of the game. Diss continued to play better than the conditions and further tries came in the second half by the storming Rob Silcocks who managed to break through from outside the twenty-two, another for Styles to complete a hat trick, John Alexander crashed through for his normal try a game and Silcocks grabbed another before the end. Southwold to their credit ensured they got something from the game with a try midway through the half and one in the dying seconds to finish the game 58-19.
