John Alexander finds form ahead of Fitness.

Diss romped to a eight-try win at Norwich 3 on Saturday, John Alexander and Nas Girgin scoring two, but for all their fireworks out in the back line it was Alexander who was the standout performer in a victory that ignites the team's league campaign. For the first forty Will Edwards was conducting proceedings, captain Benny Goodman at his slippery best and Alexander a battering ram who made over 50 metres for his four carries. Straight from kick off Diss turned it on. The first try began in Diss's half with Paul Austin bullocking into anyone willing to stand in his way. The ball was worked wide to the left after a scruffy kick through and Moir gathered and scored the team's first try of the season. This was met with a nod of approval from Captain Benny Goodman who was playing in a more influential role at inside centre.. Austins next line break set up the second score for Karlton Gray, and No3 soon followed when Naz Girgin slipped past his opposite number out wide with ease. Already Norwich were in deep trouble and despite changes with Will Foote replacing the injured Passmore Diss had their try bonus point straight after half-time - a barreling run from close range by tight head Gary White. Perhaps this was the Diss thirds new all-star front row clicking into top gear for the first time as Ben Brooks added another from close range. Will Brundle having missed out on the cup final from May showed what he could do with various runs in the second half and another name to mention in an entertaining second half was winger John Webster who was at his jinking best in a perfect display of wing play. His brother unfortunately was taken off injured only to be replaced by his father Ian Webster. Norwich managed to get on the score sheet for themselves with a try in the half but this was to be there only time they scored. Diss continued the second half with another try when another barreling run from Alexander who scored under the posts. By this stage experience was key with Seb Goodge calling the shots from the number nine position and Will Foote leading the forwards. Diss added another couple of tries from Girgin and Webster and to finish the highlight of the afternoon was a drop goal conversion from Seb Goodge from out wide to give Diss a 46-5 points to win. Further tests follow but this was a good start to the new season.
